Papers and Files
Use the Papers and Files page to manage and view papers and files related to the current dataset.
To view the Papers and Files page, click the main tab titled Dataset Info followed by the Papers and Files link below.
Note: To add or modify papers or files for a dataset, your account needs to be given permission by a DataShop administrator. Contact us with your DataShop username, the dataset for which you'd like to modify papers and files, and your relationship to the owner of the dataset. We'll email you when you've been granted permission.
What's appropriate here?
Of course, a paper that references data in this dataset is appropriate for the papers table. But what else is common?
- A file that provides a mapping from the DataShop anonymous user ID to the original user ID for each student, useful if you are an instructor or are trying to compare student performance on pencil-and-paper pre/posttests completed in a school.
- Audio/visual artifacts gathered during the course or study
- Statistical analyses (eg, from R, SPSS)
- Other analysis artifacts
- Scanned pre and posttests
To add a paper or file:
- Fill in the first two blank text fields (Citation and Abstract for a paper, Title and Description for a file) with the desired information.
- Click Browse to locate the file or paper to upload. A file chooser will appear.
- Browse for and select the file or paper on your computer.
- Click the Add button (
). DataShop will transfer your file to the server—this
may take a moment depending on the size of the file and the speed
of your internet connection. When the transfer is complete, your
file or paper will appear in a new row in the table.
To view a paper or file:
- Click the link of the file or paper you'd like to view. Depending on the file type and your browser settings, your browser will prompt you to open the file for viewing or save it to your computer.
To modify a paper or file:
- Click the edit button (
) on the row of the paper or file you'd like to edit.
The text fields will become editable. - Modify the text in any of the fields.
- When you'd like to save your changes, press Save; otherwise, press Cancel to discard your changes.
To delete a paper or file:
- Click the delete (trashcan) button (
) on the row of the paper or file you'd
like to delete. A prompt will appear. - Click 'yes' to delete your file; click 'no' to cancel deletion
